Over here at Vintage Rose Wraps, we have the fortunate opportunity of working with some amazing photographers from all over the country. It's been a long time coming, but we are VERY excited to introduce you to Jennifer from My Two Hearts Photography. We were floored when she showed us pics from a session last fall, and fell in love with these three darling girls sporting our headbands with style.

She had ordered our headbands to use as photo props for sessions and happened to have our package she'd just received in her car when these little cuties showed up. She pulled out the headbands and couldn't believe how perfect they matched up. We can't believe it either.

Jennifer is amazing and was so wonderful to send us these pictures to share with us. We love the color, the style, and the vibrancy of these pictures and feel so proud to welcome Jennifer's amazing pictures to the Vintage Rose Wraps family.

To say that we love these pictures from Jessica Paxson of Jessica Paxson Photography would be the understatement of the year. Truth is, we are so enamored with her talent and goodness--we don't even know where to start. I can't tell you how long I've been sitting on these pictures. I haven't known how to best present them and give Jessica the credit and "gushing" she deserves.

First, let me say that every interaction with this woman has been so genuine and heartfelt. You can tell from her "ABOUT ME" section on her website {HERE} that she lives her life grateful for all the good in it. And this goodness--I must say--can be felt in every picture I've ever seen from her. She puts her heart into what she does, and this translates to be a WHOLE lotta fantastic picture taking.

We'll call it picture perfection--but we'll let you decide for yourself.

Thank you, Jessica--for sharing your talent and goodness and with the world, and for loving our headbands so much. We think all of these sessions were picture perfect.

Time to start blogging about some awesome photo shoots that have come our way in the last while! Occasionally we get sent pictures unexpectedly that are AMAZING! These photos by Sandi Bradshaw {a local Scottsdale/Phoenix Photographer} were one of those. Thanks to Shauna Kupetz from JAM in Scottsdale who gave Sandi this headband for her shoot. WE LOVE how these turned out! If you are ever in the Phoenix area or if you are an AZ Local--you've got to check these vendors out!

It's...been...a summer.

It's been busy.

It's been full.

But...

It's been FABULOUS.

We have traveled to Dallas. And Atlanta...

and a few places in between.

We've made LOTS of new friends...

and shown them how two pregnant Mamas can run a business.

We've done family stuff. Kid stuff.

And tried not to focus on missed opportunities.

BUT,

what we've realized most,

is that we love making headbands and selling them to you.

We love when people tell us how they feel when they wear them.

And we love recognizing this time

as a DEFINING MOMENT in our lives.

Wishing you all the Happiest of 4th's! We're so grateful to live in this great Country and to celebrate with these amazing photos by Jessica Paxson Photography.

Also--thought we'd share a thought for the day. We love this and hope it instills in you a desire to truly teach your children of AMERICA!

Dr. Kenneth McFarland, a great non-partisan, national patriot, gave a speech entitled "Selling America to Americans." He told about a young soldier who returned from Vietnam. In a very serious talk with his parents, the young soldier asked if they loved America. He asked how they felt about this great and glorious nation. Both mother and father got a little teary eyed and said that they loved this country dearly, that it was more precious to them than their own life. "Why didn't you tell me that when I was growing up?" he said. "I never heard you once say that you loved America. You never taught me to love it. I can't tell you what an ungrateful pup I have been. I had to go to Vietnam to find out what the United States of America is all about. I would gladly lay down my life for it. I would have given anything to know how you felt about it when I was growing up."

We're itching for summer around here. It's nearing the end of the school year which means end-of-year programs, award ceremonies, and gifts for teachers. It also means a change of pace--{SUMMER!} which is time for togetherness, for imaginations to flow freely and for opportunities to make memories.

We recieved these fabulous images from Sherina Welch with Free Spirit Foto in Houston, Texas and they're seeping with all the fantastic memories, senses, and feelings of what the summer months bring.

My sister/partner and I grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah at the base of the Wasatch Mountains. We had a summer home in Midway--a quaint little European-like community just 45 minutes through the nearby canyon and up the mountains just a bit. And though it was our "summer home" we went there almost every weekend--summer, fall, winter, or spring. But in the summer, we would spend weeks and weeks there--running free and wild--and innocent.

It seems like today there is such a need to capture the beauty and innocence of childhood. As I watch my children grow older and see them face challenges from an increasingly troubled world, I want to bottle up everything that is good so that I can give it to each of them. That's why we head there--each summer--to Midway. To let our children run free, wild, and innocent. So they can get a taste of their own "playful innocence"

And that's why we love these pictures. Because it reminds of us everything that is good.

Some girls just got it. I'm talking about the whole package. They just have confidence enough to be themselves--to have their own style, and to do their own thing--regardless.

Such was this gal, Tamarria from http://www.thebelievingwoman.com/ {and her darling friend, Destiny from http://www.aplaceforusblog.com/} at the Creative Estates Conference this past weekend.

I saw her *ROCKING* our Sunshine Yellow Stripe headband, and I fell in love with her...

from a distance of course.

I always get shy at these kind of things. So much creative goodness in one room makes me want to retreat into a hole and stay there for a while until I have the confidence to come out again and be myself.

But I learned a ton. Met fantastic people. And got a few ideas spinning in my head. Which is always dangerous. But it always happens at things like this.

And I only had a few short spells from morning sickness a couple of times.

We are still *SWOONING* over this fantastic photo shoot with the amazing Laura from Laura Winslow Photography we had in January. It was such a privilige to watch this woman in action! She was cool and collected-- and strikingly calming to watch as she naturally went about finding the right light to compliment everything.

I still can't stop looking at the pictures...the colors...the models!

I love how each of these gorgeous gals wore our headbands with such style, and confidence and grace. They brought meaning to our occasional tagline: vintagy, yet fresh | hip, yet humble. These fine young women were such gems--ALL OF THEM, and it was so fantastic meeting them, and watching Laura pull their personalities out in these pictures!

Thank you also to Carol and Brittany at Designer Blvd. for dressing all our models with their amazing clothing--and for being so gracious to let us "have at it". :) Thanks also to What's Your Virtue Lip Bliss for coming and participating in the fun with their unbelievable lip gloss. Didn't their gloss help make the pictures?

How To Get The BEST Out Of Your VRW

This post is long past due, and thanks to Alexandra Heyman who posted this question on our facebook page because it prompted us to answer this question for the rest of you.

"I have 2 vintage rose wraps and I love them but I have a hard time keeping them on, they always slide back and fall off. I'm wondering what the secret is to keeping them on."

There are some tips and tricks that can help you get the *BEST* out of your Vintage Rose Wrap.

First, we need to address the fact that some people's ears are set farther back than others, and occasionally--and I'm using that term super loosley because I've probably only had 2 or 3 people ever tell us this, but they {sometimes} are harder to wear for these people. I've seen them and we've tried and it's just harder for the headbands to stay on their heads.

Hopefully, these tips and tricks will be helpful in how you wear your Vintage Rose Wrap.

{1} ROSE PLACEMENT: First things first. If you hold your headband out from hand to hand, you will see that the rose if slightly offset from the middle. We will refer to the side closest to your hand as the "shorter" side. Upon adorning your head, we suggest putting the "shorter" side of the headband with the rose ON TOP or TO THE SIDE OF YOUR HAIR PART {closest to your ear}. Once you've done this, you're assured to have the correct placement for the rose and the ends will match better in the back.

{2} TAUT: taut/tôt/Adjective 1. Stretched or pulled tight; not slack. Okay--this is very important. There's nothing worse than seeing someone with a loosey goosey headband--and some people do tie their headbands too tight as well. There is a happy medium and it is found in the wonderful word, taut.

The natural fibers of your headband allow for a slight stretch as you tie it to your head. The more you wear your headband, the more you will be able to see how the stretch of the fabric will start to shape to your head. You sort of have to "train" the headband. After a couple of times wearing it, it will fit your size and shape of head better than if you put it on the first time. The key is to tie it tight enough so it's not lose or you don't have a pucker on the back side of your wrap {closest to your crown} but not too tight so it starts to slip off your head. {This could very well be the answer to your inquiry, Alexandra}

Occasionally, we have someone who tells us they've put velcro underneath their headband so the headband stays better on their shape of head. Believe me when I tell you that we have explored this idea--but the truth is, we don't think you need it. If you follow these instructions, the headband stays just fine through most of the day. Yes you might need to fix it like you would any other accessory you wear --but we stand by our headbands and the many comments from happy customers who say, "They are so comfortable I sometimes forget I'm wearing it."

With that said...

{3} 1-2-3 CHECK: Because they ARE so comfortable, we DO forget to check on them throughout the day. Sometimes they just loosen up from start of day to end, and we don't even realize that happens. DO please check your headbands occasionally. Just by simply re-tying them when you redo your hair {following are tricks we've told you} give your wrap a chance to look fabulous on you--all the time.

{4} CLEAN TUCK & TIE: Sometimes it's hard to make a nice clean tie--especially if you are wearing it when the rest of your hair is down. If this is the case, may we suggest throwing your hair in a hair claw for a brief moment so you can make the clean tie. THEN, tuck those ends! Some people do prefer keeping the ties hanging down, and occasionally I do that, especially on my 2-year old, but for the most part--tuck, tuck, tuck! It looks so much better if you tie, then tuck the ends back up underneath the bands.

{5} EARS + HEADBAND: Generally, our headwrap bands are meant to go behind the ear. HOWEVER, because they are handmade and the nature of that results in some variation of band width, sometimes bands do better when they can cover a portion of the ear. That is especially true if you are outfitting a smaller child with our headands. I do this especially with my 2-year old as well. The width of the band just doesn't do well with her size of head and ear placement. SO, I just tie and cover some of her ears, and be sure her hair comes out over the band so it doesn't look too funny.

{6} CARE + KEEPING: We have plans in the future to offer ideas of how to store your headbands--so stay tuned for more info regarding that. As for the care of your headbands, it is best to hand spot any dirty parts of your band. We do not recommend throwing it in the wash. Hand washing would be the best if needed. Also, freshen them up occasionally by using an iron or a flat iron to run the band through it to iron out the ends. This continues to be my favorite tip of all!

We know all these things because we too love our headbands and wear them all the time! We want to insure each of you have the best chance to look great wearing one as well. Whether you wear them in the classic-style, or a bohemian-style all your own...our headbands are made to reflect the best part of you and your fabulous style. Hopefully these tips and tricks help you get the *BEST* out of your VRW!

To say that I like Frances Vintage and the lovely Georgeann who owns the place would be the understatement of the year. I first met her at {THIS} photo shoot with Laura Winslow Photography a few months ago. Just in time for Halloween! This photo shoot for Classy Sassy Girls by the ever-talented Laura Winslow of Laura Winslow Photography is right in time to show off some of our own {HAIR CANDY}! I love how our headbands complimented the fun, frilly pettiskirts to make these photos SUPER SWEET! What made for a sweeter day was collaborating with Kim from The TomKat Studio and her amazing team, Georgeann the owner of Smeeks and Frances Vintage, and meeting the other Moms whose daughters participated. BUT THE SWEETEST had to be having my own daughter participate in the fun! I love all these pictures, but especially the one of the sweet little girl in red and green! ;)

I LOVE TOMKAT

It's true. I do.

I'd ran across her blog several times, but it wasn't until last year at a boutique that I met her.

Kim--the amazingly talented creator of The TomKat Studio walked right up to me with a smile and said, "So you're the one with the headbands...Good job!" She handed me her card and said, "I'd love to feature you sometime!" She'd watched me survive one of the craziest weekends of my life. I sold out in just a few short hours--had gone home and stayed up much of the night to have enough to sell at the boutique the next morning.

It was a scenario destined to happen, because I just can't get enough of Kim, and her awesome assistants, Andrea and Toni {below} and all the amazing good and wonderful things they do! Not to mention, the wonderful, good people they are! It has been a joy to get to know them--even collaborate on a few things {more to come} and genuinely call them all friends.

Favorite Headband Hair & Swiss Days

My favorite thing is when someone feels like their hair is too short or that they're too old to wear these headbands and they give them a try. Such was the experience with this lady at Swiss Days. She came in our booth, took a long look, then turned around. We told her she had the perfect hair for them, and she said, "Really?" Then we tried one on her, and it was love at first site. And she turned around to her husband and said, "What do you think?" And he said, "I love it!" Just like that. She was sold.

I asked her if we could take her picture. Isn't she darling?

We couldn't have been more elated with everyone that came to Swiss Days! We were so excited to see so many good customers come pick from our great selection. Thank you to all who came and to the many who found us for the first time! We were happy to meet so many new vendor friends as well and we look forward to those relationships being developed in the future.

September is off to a great start and "sublime" would be the best word to describe the wonderful, full month we have planned. We are grateful to be a part of so many impressive spectacles this month-- and we are in awe with the fantastic venues we are able to sell our headbands.

A cause close to my heart. My Mom was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year.

I was so happy to get an invitation to participate in an Open House tomorrow benefitting the 3-Day Cancer Walk. A portion of the proceeds from all the vendors there will be given to help raise money to send a team to walk for this worthwhile event.

It all started with Kimberly and Wendy in Louisville, Kentucky. My Vintage Rose Wraps caught their eye and they thought they'd give them a try. The first day, they sold 14. So exciting! Then one thing led to another--and well, the rest is history. Four Apricot Lanes are now selling them. It is very exciting to be a part of such a hip and happening boutique--and even more exciting that these stores see the potential in these awesome headbands and are selling them like crazy. What A Fun Weekend We Had and SWISS DAYS!

We had so much fun last weekend selling headbands! Thank you to all the wonderful people who stopped by our booth to grab a few for themselves or as gifts! And thanks the gals who kept coming back! Like the mother and daughter duo from Amarillo, Texas and Sally from Tampa. Not to mention the cute lady who wore her black and white polkadot headband proudly and brought her granddaughters back a couple of times to pick some more out. It was so fun meeting you and making connections from across the USA.

We had over 165 different combinations to choose from--there was something for everyone!

The best part was that my daughter and niece were able to raise $82 for Breast Cancer Research in honor of my Mother who has Breast Cancer. Way to go, girls! We're so proud...

Of course--the cotton candy was pink so it made it just perfect for raising money--and our vendor neighbor next door was so sweet to offer her machine and supplies for the weekend. Thanks a bunch!

And thanks a bunch to all the people who purchased and ate the cotton candy! My own daughter here must have had 3 or 4 all on her own throughout the weekend...

We loved watching mothers come with their daughters...and return customers from previous boutiques come find us again!

This mother from Colorado was really cute--and made the perfect model wearing my headbands so we had to get a snapshot of her.

And I thought this gal from California found just the right way to make these work for her.

At the first of the year, my sister and I applied for Swiss Days in Midway to have a booth selling other items (actually NOT headbands believe it or not) and we were so happy we were accepted! Getting in is quite competitive and has always been a dream of mine to participate in. However, during the same time we were accepted, we found out about my Mom's cancer, and we felt like the best thing we could do would be to fully support her during this difficult time. Though it was a hard decision to NOT participate in Swiss Days this year, it has been fun to find other {less stressful} avenues to sell my creations. And as always, my sister has been there to help and support me through it all.

With all that said, with the success we had last weekend, I'm excited to announce,

WE ARE STILL GOING TO BE AT SWISS DAYS!

We'll just be at "Seasons of Home" {same place as we were last weekend} selling my headbands!

I also wanted to let you all know I have new pricing. I'm needing to raise my prices to not undersell the great stores that sell my headbands for me. So to be consistent, I am offering my headbands now for $14 each with occasional promotions or sales.
